How important is it to change a oxygen sensor in a mini cooper ?

Your oxygen sensor controls your air to fuel mixture. A bad one could cause poor mileage or poor performance. Bosch (a sensor manufacture) recommends replacing them at 100,000 miles. I personally dont change them till they malfunction. A respectable auto repair shop can check them with a good scanner for you. I have seen a few bad ones that did not turn a service light on the customers had drivability complaints.|||An O2 sensor is not a recommended maintenance item. they are not meant to be changed at any interval. It only becomes important to change the O2 sensor if it has been determined that it is faulty.|||if it causes a chk eng lite an throws an 02 code yes,if bad it will send bad info 2 engine computer, its 1 of the items computr uses to detrmine air fuel mixture,an ull fail state emission insp, besides must r ez fixed for 20$|||It doesn%26#039;t matter what make vehicle it is. If it goes bad it needs to be replaced.|||i would not change it until it has a problem with either the heater or the sensor. it is the logic of if it aint broke why fix it. ive got an o2 sensor with 240,000 miles on it.
