How do i get rid of the "perform service" light in my 1999 jeep grand cherokee?

I have already done the tune up (changed spark plugs, changed oil, oxygen sensors and everything of the sort. Why wont the %26quot;perform service%26quot; light come off?

2 options!

Depending on what it is, you can unplug the battery cables for about an hour and the computer will clear the code... But depending on the model it might keep the code and then only the dealer can clear it.

Well option 3 is there is something wrong, such as the 02 sensor or something. If you unplug the battery and the light goes away but comes back... Somethings wrong.

you will have to take it in to the dealer
My guess is that it reads %26quot;perform service%26quot; in the overhead display. If this is the case, press the step button repeatedly until the display reads %26quot;0 miles to service.%26quot; Then press and hold the Reset button until the display reads %26quot;3000 (or whatever interval it is set at) miles to service%26quot;
