Oxygen sensor defective: how to know which one is defective on a toyota camry?

When my check engine light came on, i took the car to autozone for code reading and it read defective oxygen sensor, my mechanic just told me to change the front one, he was not sure which one is defective( there are two of them), how do i know which one is defective to avoid just wasting money?

I believe the only real way to check an O2 sensor is to actually tap into the negative wire coming off it with a meter while the car is running, and check for current. Doesn't sound like fun though considering they're probably located on the exhaust manifold or pipe.

If you don't get other answers, check google for step-by-steps on checking for a bad O2 sensor.

it should have told you which 1 was bad. if you changed 1 of them and the light was still on, then it must be the other 1.
