Will a oxygen sensor cause my 92 ranger to be slugish going up hill and hesitate while giving it the throttle.

i live in hilly country and i go up hill alot. well my 1992 ranger is slugish going up hill it won t hardly pull the hill. it runs good on flat roads. also when i am sitting idling and push the gas it hesitates. will an oxygen sensor cause this to happen, i ve never had mine changed out yet.

Maybe, is your service light coming on? Good also be exp a bad mass airflor sensor if this is a 4.0 motor.

it could be that, or it sounds like your converter is showing early signs of bein plugged, so i suggest changing the o2 sensor and if it still does it u might wanna see if the converter is plugged...my car did the same thing then it got worse and eventually wouldnt even start cuz it wasnt gettin any gas
your problem is most likely your fuel filter, air filter, and pcv valve .............they could be clogged autozone.com has a trouble shooting guide that will help you figure it out
If the O2 sensor was bad then I would think that you would have a CEL (Check Engine Light). O2 sensor will last about 60,000 miles, maybe a little more before they start to fail.
The o2 sensor works only to sense the heated gas at the exhaust and transmit it to your box, it determines the mixture of air and gas... is your ranger a diesel fed or gas? if it is a diesel go check the injection pump and the fuel filter, if it is a gas go check the fuel pump and the fuel fiter and also the coils may be some of them are busted....
