should be check form the exhaust manifold down to the cat.

that is where the oxygen sensor should be locate. If you just got the car from some body it may not be one there. some one may remove it and put and death bolt in instead.

should be wire come to the sensor

there may be 2. one in the left exhaust manifold, look for two wires.there may be another in the intermediate pipe, not sure..they dont like to come out sometimes and may need to be heated up with a torch to turn'em out...just pay someone else to do it.
they are on the exhaust pipe or exhaust manifold.

Usually tough to remove, as it is stainless steel threads on stainless steel in a high heat cycle so the threads weld to each other.

A special wrench is required, but can be done with regular mechanics tools.

also, if you tackle this, know that the anti seize required on the threads will poison the O2 sensor head if any gets on it.

Usually it is a 'if you have to ask', don't try this one your self.

PS....get OEM O2's, as some of the 'cheaper' or 'too good to be true priced' are short lived (OEM is required to go min 80K miles by EPA).
same place my 88 olds is, behind the engine by the exhaust pipe. unhook the battery, unplug the connector, take a wrench and unscrew the old sensor, put the new 1 in and tighten it, plug it back up, and hook up the battery.
