How do I change an oxygen sensor in a 97 Ford aeostar?

1. Apply a light coat of anti-seize compound F6AZ-9L494-AA install and tighten heated oxygen sensors to 36-46 Nm (27-33 lb-ft).

2. NOTE: When battery voltage is removed from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM), all learned values will be cleared and reset to predetermined values. When battery voltage is restored to the PCM, the vehicle may exhibit certain driveability concerns. It will be necessary to drive the vehicle to allow the PCM to relearn values for optimum driveability and performance.

Take it to a muffler shop they can do it with out breaking it off and tearing anything up

it unscrews like a sparkplug, just spray it first with some wd-40 or something and let it soak for a few minutes for a easier removel
YOU WILL NEED A SPECIAL SOCKET SO THAT YOU WILL NOT BREAK THE WIRES BUT IF YOU HAVE ENOUGH ROOM YOU CAN USE A UNIVERSAL WRENCH.

IF THE O2 SENSOR IS RUSTED OR STUCK TRY SPRAYING ANY TYPE OF PENETRATING FLUID ON IT AND THEN IT WILL COME LOOSE.

WHEN YOU ARE READY TO REINSTALL THE NEW ONE MAKE SURE THAT YOU CLEAN UP ALL OF THE PENETRATING FLUID SO THAT YOU DO NOT CONTAMINATE THE NEW SENSOR.
